- Please read Chapters 13 and 8 from your textbook, as well as Seven Habits, and then address the Leadership Reflection Questions for Week 4. Please use the Leadership Reflection Questions template provided to format your paper. Note that APA format is NOT required for Leadership Reflection Question assignments – only case studies and the final paper. Please remember the 750 word minimum for these assignments.

Leadership Reflection Questions:
Part 1: Followership
- Look at Covey’s model: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Explain the developmental concepts of dependence, independence (Habits 1,2,3), and interdependence Habits 4,5,6). Habit 2, the leadership habit, precedes habit 3, the management habit. What’s the difference and why does this matter?
- Why is Habit 7 essential for all the other 6 habits? What is it and how can you apply this to your spiritual, mental, emotional/social, and physical renewal?
- Complete the “Leadership Practice: Know Yourself 13.1 – The Power of Followership” exercise from chapter 13 of your textbook. Refer to Exhibit 13.2: Followership Styles. Which style best describes you? Which style(s) would you like to adopt? Explain using the reading from ch. 13.
- What does it mean to ‘manage up’? Based on the reading, what can you do to help your boss using these principles? Discuss a brief action plan.
Part 2: Motivation & Empowerment
- How does Motivator-Hygiene theory apply to your workplace? Provide an example and include explanation of the model.
- How can you use Path-Goal theory to motivate yourself? Discuss the theory components, your goal(s), and behavior changes.
- How might Maslow’s hierarchy apply to the ‘great resignation’ we’ve all experienced over the past 2 years? Using the model, tell managers the problem and solution.
- When has Equity Theory caused you to lower your efforts in the workplace? Explain how this happened referring to the theory.
