Research Paper Writing Example

Prompt: Write a persuasive research paper on one of the topics below or one of your own choosing of 10-12 pages, using MLA documentation and formatting style. You will need at least seven sources. Any essays must be peer reviewed essays.

1. Complete the rough draft of your annotated bibliography, discussing your claim and the sources you’ve found so far. Annotated Bibliography Assignment

Using the topic for your final research paper, you will write an annotated bibliography.

1. Choose your paper topic and sub-topic.

2. Find your seven sources.

3. Create a Works Cited with these seven sources.

For each source, you’ll write a five to six line annotation, describing the source’s thesis/summary and how the source could be useful or isn’t useful for your paper. After choosing your preliminary topic, please choose 20 sources in a variety of forms that might work for your topic. Some may be books, articles, movies, etc. At least six of these sources must be peer reviewed. List the titles and authors. After this first step, go through your sources and eliminate ten of these sources, and tell me why you did so. Why did these sources not work for your paper? Create a list of these ten sources that you considered for your Annotated Bibliography but ultimately rejected, with annotations indicating why you considered each item and why you decided not to use it. At least three of these rejected sources must be scholarly.

TOPICS

1. Write a persuasive paper on sexism. This topic is quite broad so your first task will be to reduce the topic to a smaller idea concerning sexism. This narrowing of topic may become sexism in the media, sexism in politics, the problems and issues of sexism in the workplace. Remember that the paper must be persuasive, so your topic must persuade your audience to do or believe something about that topic.
