The proposal should be a detailed outline of your term paper.

with an introduction (3 pages), + titles of main sections with a summary of projected content (0.5 to 1 page per section), and an initial list of sources (1 page)

5-7 pages total

Font: Times New Roman 12 – 1.5 between lines space

The introduction should have both

1) motivation

2) present what you will actually do in broad terms

Section

Title and a more Detailed Summary of what you plan to cover in that section. It can be prospective and open.
