Feedback from colleagues
Feedback 1: Self-awareness is essential for nurses’ personal and professional development, developing a practical nurse/patient relationship, and improving nursing abilities. Despite its importance in nursing and therapeutic nurse-patient relationships and its evolving nature, the knowledge base for self-awareness in nursing still needs to be examined (Rasheed et al., 2018, p. 1). Engaging in self-awareness is understanding the personal inner world and the interpersonal outer world. The insight and understanding achieved through self-awareness enable the management of feelings, thoughts, and actions to protect and improve oneself (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2023). Self-awareness plays a vital role in nursing practice by promoting reflection, emotional regulation, cultural competence, therapeutic communication, professional boundaries, and personal growth. Nurses who cultivate self-awareness are better equipped to navigate the complexities of patient care, promote positive health outcomes, and contribute to a culture of excellence within healthcare organizations. Your discussion post was well written. Stay blessed.

Feedback 2: In addition to identifying your core strengths like positivity, consistency, responsibility, belief, and relator traits, recognizing their implications on your leadership style and interpersonal dynamics is pivotal. Positivity not only uplifts morale but also fosters a conducive environment for collaboration and innovation (Redín et al., 2023). Consistency and responsibility underscore your reliability, which are essential traits in building trust and credibility among peers and subordinates. Your emphasis on justice and fairness aligns with ethical leadership principles, reflecting a commitment to equitable treatment and inclusivity. Furthermore, your acknowledgment of areas for growth, such as expanding your relational networks and enhancing cultural competence, showcases a growth mindset crucial for effective leadership development. Cultivating a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives and refining interpersonal skills will enhance your capacity to navigate complex organizational landscapes and foster inclusive environments conducive to collective success. Integrating these insights into your leadership journey will undoubtedly enrich your professional effectiveness and foster a culture of continuous improvement and inclusivity.

Feedback 3: Thank you for sharing your strengths finder results and explaining how they shape your leadership style. It is fascinating to see the variety of leadership styles we possess and how we intend to utilize them as we progress in our careers. I firmly believe that effectively applying these qualities can significantly impact our roles as nurse leaders.
I wholeheartedly agree with your second paragraph, especially emphasizing respect and zero tolerance for bullying. These values are not just essential but also the bedrock of our profession. We must support one another in healthcare to ensure a safe and nurturing environment. As Emeritus (2023) suggests, a leader must respect differences of opinion and encourage team members to do the same. This approach fosters a harmonious team dynamic, where everyone’s perspective is valued, and conflicts are minimized.
Your insights on the importance of self-awareness in assessing one’s leadership style resonate deeply with me. I also consider self-awareness a powerful tool in my journey to becoming a better nurse. It allows us to critically examine our biases and opinions, which influence our interactions with others in our roles as nurse leaders. Poorchangizi (2019) rightly points out that nurses play a crucial role in upholding ethical standards in our profession. We must embody values like freedom, human dignity, justice, and truth. Moreover, we must be conscious of our personal beliefs, cultural differences, and biases to communicate and navigate ethical dilemmas effectively. This commitment to self-awareness and moral practice is a lifelong journey that begins in nursing education and continues throughout our careers.
As nursing professionals, we understand that leadership is a continuous process of growth and development. Our responsibility is to consistently apply our strengths and values to provide the best possible care to our patients. I appreciate that you also recognize this principle and possess a solid understanding of it. I am excited to hear more about your ideas and insights on the upcoming topics we will cover in the course. Your perspective on these subjects is invaluable, and we can all learn from each other’s experiences and knowledge.
