Case Study Conflict Analysis-The goal of this paper is for you toanaluze a case study. This conflict can be anything

situation that involves a conflict between two parties, multiparties, or large groups (nations, states, etc). Your conflict can
span all areas to include: business, politics, entertainment/sports, etc.
Paper Requirements:
• 3 page minimum (minus title and bibliography page). You can write more if you need it.
• Use @ least 7 different citations from the class or outside the class (must relate to conflict/negotiation)
• This is worth 25pts!
• This is your chance to use everything you learned in during the semester to analyze a real-life problem. A major
part of your grade will focus on how well you analyze and synthesize the readings. You know the material better
than you think; tell me how the concepts operated in your conflict!
Paper Outline –Your paper will have the following 6 sections
1. Situation: Briefly give me the history of the conflict. Highlight how this conflict came to being, Answer these
questions:
• Who are the parties involved.
• What is the conflict/negotiation history?
• What are the parties negotiating over?
2. Preparation: Next, tell me the following negotiation points for you and the other side
• What are the Positions of each party?
• What are the Interests of each party?
• What is the BATNA for each party?
3. Process: For this section, walk me through how the parties decided a solution.
4. Outcome: What was the solution for the parties? Who
5. Explanation & Analysis: Describe how the concepts/readings you choose operated in this case study. Use the
reading to explain why your negotiation went the way it did. You can focus on one or all three of the following
• Conflict Theories
• Negotiation Essentials (negotiation set-up,
outcomes, issues, tactics)
• Internal / External Enablers
• Reconciliation/ Forgiveness
6. Evaluation & Lessons Learned: Finally, reflect on your work. Use the following questions as a guide.
• What did you learn from this conflict?
• Going forward, how might you improve your negotiation skills?
