Initial Posting: You will have a two week discussion board this week. Instead of doing all the work in one week, you will have 2 weeks to complete the work. Pick two items from the following list, making sure that all your choices are related to children or adolescents. Do not post your initial response until you have completed both items. Both activities/items should be included within your initial posting. Be sure to provide the links so other students can access the videos, articles, etc. about which you are posting and provide a full citation in 7th edition APA format. Your responses to your classmates must be on threads where students selected a different assignment than you did. Please note that you may not post something that has already been posted by another student, such as a video, article, etc. In addition, responses to classmates on your own thread will not count as a response.
Diverse Learner Discussion Board Content Response Options
The following are your choices:
- Find and post a video that discusses one of the childhood/youth disorders covered in class. Summarize the video and discuss at least 2 things you learned from the video and at least 2 things you still have questions about. Explain how you would use this information as a clinician. Must be at least 300 words.
- Find and post a peer reviewed research study on treatment of one of the diagnoses covered in class. Summarize the study including research problem, sample, method, results, and conclusion. Discuss at least 2 things you learned from the article and at least 2 applications of the research to a therapeutic setting. Must be at least 300 words.
- Find 2 different surveys or questionnaires that measure symptoms/needs. Summarize what these surveys cover, explain the psychometric properties, and then explain how they could be used in a clinical setting. Discuss how you could use this information to help you create a treatment plan. Must be at least 300 words.
- Create a PowerPoint or Prezi Presentation of at least 5 slides or 300 words content (not including title slide or references slide) that covers your selection that makes a comparison of a minimum of 3 diagnoses covered in class. Cover the key features, how the disorders are different and similar, and differential diagnoses. Sound must accompany this project with at least 5 minutes of audio.
- Find and post a podcast/audio file that discusses one of the childhood/youth disorders covered in class. Summarize the podcast and discuss at least 2 things you learned from the podcast/audio file and how you could use this information as a clinician. Must be at least 300 words.
- Create a blog with a minimum of two 250-word articles on your topic. In addition to providing the link to the blog, write a short summary of what you have included in your blog and a list of references in APA format that you used to create you blog. Must be at least 300 words.
