STEP 1a: (a) examine ISTE’s essential conditions of student-centered learning; (b) synthesize two to three recent peer-reviewed articles in the area of constructivist learning/engaged learning, and (c) analyze various technology plans at the school, district (Gwinnett County Public School), state (Georgia), and national levels. Candidates will compile the information gained across these areas into a 1 to 2-page single-spaced executive summary that highlights key trends in instructional technology.
Step 2: Candidates will synthesize the input received from their purposeful sample of key stakeholders and the information compiled in their executive summary to create a presentation (e.g., Infographic, podcast, website) that clearly and powerfully promotes a shared vision that details how technology should be used to support teaching and learning in schools.
The shared vision must articulate how empowered learning with technology can be achieved. This might include, for example, what types of technology use the educators and stakeholders would like to see in their school or district in the very near future. Candidates should listen to and collaborate with other educators, receive input, and incorporate their ideas into the shared vision. The vision may include specific examples or scenarios of what that vision looks like in practice.
Using the executive summary and the input of stakeholders at the school and/or district level, candidates will create an infographic or podcast that articulates a shared vision for empowered learning. This presentation can include graphics, audio, text, animation and/or video, depending on the format selected. If a video is created, it must be limited to three minutes in length.
