For this week’s reflection, we turn our attention to global energy regarding renewables.
Write a Journal Reflection 500-600 words long answering two questions (250-300 words each answer):
- Where do you stand on renewable energy? Do you think it’s a good thing? A waste of time? Why?
- What are the pros and cons of switching from traditional energy sources to renewables? What about the pros and cons of staying the same?
Please remember that all submitted posts: essays, discussion forum and journal reflection posts you can use in your Final Research paper. Please save all your posts.

The oil sands are changing the economic, environmental, & social make-up of Canada. The industry is planning to triple production. But is it time for a reality check?
- How We Turn Solar Energy into Electricity
Solar panels are becoming cheaper and more efficient. So how exactly do they work? This video shows you how.
- The Future of Energy?
Today, we consume a truly vast amount of energy – with demand continuing to skyrocket at an alarming rate. We know that producing this energy has significant environmental impacts and emitting so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere could cause catastrophic climate change. In this short video, three academics look at wind power, carbon capture and storage (CCS) and material efficiency as examples of how we can cut our C02 emissions. They suggest that we must act now in order to avoid the serious risks of man-made global warming, one of our greatest challenges in the 21st century.
