Part 2
Respond to student’s post (Demetrie S.)
Hello Class and Professor;
When it comes to change and resistance, there are different levels to consider internally within an organization. At the individual level, change and resistance occur within each employee. For example, if a company introduces a new software system, some employees might resist the change due to a fear of technology or a lack of familiarity with the new system. At the team or department level, change and resistance involve groups of employees working together. For instance, if a company decides to restructure teams, some teams might resist the changes in roles or power dynamics.
Finally, at the organizational level, change and resistance encompass the entire company. For example, if a company decides to implement a new company-wide policy, there might be resistance from employees who feel that the policy doesn’t align with the company’s values or culture.
Now in terms of which level is most difficult to address, it can vary depending on the specific circumstances. However, addressing resistance at the organizational level can often be the most challenging. This is because it involves navigating complex dynamics and managing resistance from multiple teams and individuals across the entire organization.
While each level of change and resistance presents its challenges, addressing resistance at the organizational level can often be the most difficult due to its scale and the need for widespread alignment.
