6 8 Pages Long Double Space Paper Comparing 2 Comics Of Your Choice

The paper should be 6-8 pages (double-spaced, not including the title page). The paper must compare two comics, one from before 1955 and one published after 2000.

Your paper should have these basics of papers:

  • Have a title, your name, date handed in.
  • a clear opening paragraph that, in this case, says what the paper covers and gives specific information on the two comic books you are using, including issue number and year of publication.
  • It should also have a clear concluding paragraph that sums up what you have argued in your comparison.
  • And of course it should have as few grammatical mistakes and spelling mistakes as possible – take advantage of your word processing program’s ability to underline or color mistakes, and then try to fix those mistakes!

For this specific assignment, you must compare the pre-1955 and post-2000 comics you choose on each of the following points:

How are men and women are portrayed in each comic? Give specific examples from each comic. What do you make of these portrayals? How different are the two comics?

Discussion of how race is treated (this is relevant even if all characters shown are of the same race – what does that tell you?).

Intended audience, including but not limited to age they are aiming at (give specific examples from each comic to make your case).

Evidence within each comic book that gives some clues about when the comic was created (separate from the publication date!). Likely examples might include technology, clothing styles, hair styles, language, but other aspects of the comic may also tell you something about when it was written and drawn.

You can spend much more time on some of these issues than on others, but each topic listed here should be discussed. You can also compare the comics on other issues, as seems relevant to you based on the comics themselves and your interests. These are topics I want covered in each paper, but that does not mean you can’t discuss additional topics that seem interesting to you.
